Question:
Aren't you disappointed when you wake up and find out that your friends have... :) ?

asked a question that you'd love to answer, while you were sleeping, and have closed it a few hours later, before you could come back here? So, now, all you can do is read it... :(

Thank you for your answer! :)

Have a wonderful week ahead! :)

Yes I am even though sometimes I'm disappointed and intimidated to answer a question (that is still open) because it has already been answered so well so I don't end up answering and it makes me feel like I am out of touch with my contacts :(

Don't get me wrong I'm happy for the person asking (they got a great answer) but I get intimidated by some responses being so good (I feel if I answer my response might look dumb compared to such an excellent answer) or feel that others will think I'm coping their response if I have a similar answer (which I never do because I don't end up answering).

Hi Moon. Here's my two cents worth.

I almost leave my questions open for at least 24 hours. If I ask a stupid question on P&S, for example, I will resolve it within a couple days, so that it is behind me.

If I ask a deep and thought provoking question, I will extend the expiration date for the whole week in most cases. Sometimes the best answer comes along at the very last minute, and that is worth waiting for.

Conversely, other times I might close a good question as soon as I see that great answer come along. Sometimes a great answer will come along immediately, and I am determined to give that person a best answer, because I know that nothing else will probably top it. It's only fair to them.

A lot of times I will give a best answer because someone really," speaks my language" so to speak. I will give B/A to both an Einstein or to smeone who speaks in laymans terms. It depends on how well I agree with it. Sometimes one word will do it, other times a long diatribe will make practical sense.

The main thing is to resolve the question for the courtesy of all the people who took time to respond. I've only let a few slip by. I like a variety of responses, so I do my best to thank them all. I also try not to have too many questions open at once so I don't fall behind or feel overwhelmed by all of this.

There will always be other questions to try to answer, so don't feel bad or worry about it. Everyone has their own style on here, their own life to live, and all the quirks that vary from individual to individual.

Anyway, that my two pennies. Have a good day Moon.

There is also an art to posting at the right time to catch the most answers as well. So if you want lots of answers, post just as NA is coming on line either at work or in the evening.

I don't use this system at all at the weekend, its like looking at a train wreck when i log on on a monday !

If you have a decent network of trusted contacts that star questions you can catch those decent ones that have fallen of the front pages....hence the reason for me ending up here with this answer.

Moon, I am scared to leave a question open longer than the required four hours. If I close it at the four hours, at least somebody gets ten points before they delete it. When I first started here, I left my questions open for three days. Now I can't. Some others may be doing the same thing.

It is disappointing especially if it is already a resolved question. That's why in my questions i do extend it for seven days to wait for more answers. If i could see a good answer after say two or three days depending on the gravity of the answers then i chose the best answer already. Seldom i put my question into votes. I weighed things why this person answered my question and the beauty and sense of it gives a big credit.

Maybe it is just me, but most of my violations were for questions I left open for a few days, especially if there was anything in the least controversial. Yeah, I agree about missing my friends questions. When I was sick the other night, I crawled out from under my rock long enough to go and star the ones I could get to, and play thumbs up fairy.

Yes, that happens all the time.

Yahoo sends you a reminder that your question will expire in 24 hours. I close mine then after I get that reminder. That way I leave the question open for a few days.

However, I have noticed that 99% of the answers come in during the first few hours. But I still leave mine open.

Yes, I know; I close my questions as early as possible, but that's because I don't like to make people wait. I know from personal experience that after so long, I've forgotten what questions I've even answered. Plus, I hate it when people let their questions go to a vote--you may as well just ignore the answers people have given you--so I resolve my questions as soon as I can.

No i am not disappointed if their question needs an urgent answer like , if they are having problems with the functioning of their computers or any other technical issues.

It is obvious that they will not leave the question open for 7 days.

I don't know, but I guess it would disappoint me.

But then again, I can probably be frustrating at times, as I tend to not follow many of my contacts.

So, often I don't turn up to answer. *guilty*

But when I ask, I like to leave at least a full day, so everybody gets a chance to have a look. Unfortunately sometimes I leave it a bit TOO long and it goes to voting.

Well I never said I was organised...lol

You did that last month. I was away getting married and when I came home, I had the perfect answer for one of your questions you had already closed. It was a long time after and I Can't blame you a bit but yeah, I was bummed.

I've waited and waited.... and I am so impatient. It's like wanting to go pee!

Besides, {{{moon}}} ~some questions you just will not answer! I close my q's when I think you wouldn't answer them. Surely that isn't a bad thing? And I spare you the potential embarrasment!

Luv ya :) Oh.. it's monday. Post offfice is open.. better run!

no actually it's the other way around!! i ask a cool question and i try to wait for certain friends to answer but i end up waiting too long lol so i choose a best answer and then my friends just star the question(if they liked it) LOL or sometimes they look at the question and just don't feel like answering it ^_~

anyways i like asking more than answering so it doesn't bother me to not answer a good question!!

take care~

We all have questions, many have identical questions, but we can each word our questions a little differently, then a few of the unanswered questions may linger into your waking hour and you too, can answer that same question you would have love'd to have answered originally. Next.

It seems as if some friends, as you have, have been victims of yahoo technical mistakes and misadventures. I lost friends because of it. I lost a very meaningful testimony. I lost a blog. I lost comments. Mail has been delayed. Moon, you are a friend I value. You are a blessing to all who participate on this forum.

I have a bad tendency to close out my answers as soon as possbible so that they have less chance of being reported, but, I am trying to stop doing this. I'll look for you around Y/A, you do the same with me, okay?

yeah, i know what you mean. i've missed some cool questions that way. i try to check my contact list before anything else.

i usually try to leave mine up, but i'm guilty of closing a couple of them too soon.
