How to tell if someone is cock blocking?

There is this awesome girl at school. We have a lot in common and got to be good friends in freshman and sophomore year. I joined the swim team because she was on it and i was planing on asking her out.
Problem is, my best friend just became really good friends with her, and now i think he is cock blocking unintentionally. I don't want to jump to conclusions but i swear he is (He is inviting her over to his house for a movie with me there, inviting her to things i was going to invite her to before me). He also talks to her a lot and might have her phone # (I got it too, but i think he's trying to make moves but can't tell).
Can someone help, and how do i fix? I'm guessing dating her first

You just gotta realize he's not being a true friend. Once he saw you were serious in pursuing her he quickly realized his attraction to her that much stronger. It happens all the time, usually with female friends though. So now it's pretty much about who is willing to be the more aggressive in the competition. Pretty much I would no longer consider him a true friend. He is now your competitor. Remember that she's gonna feel flattered by it either way and might allow you two to fight over her as long as possible until she ultimately chooses who she really wants. Just don't let feelings grow until you know who she wants first. Don't let this turn into an ugly love triangle or it will get messy and feelings will get hurt. If she picks him, don't do anything stupid like try to get with her anyways later behind his back. Serious just move on and find another chick and she will realize her mistake eventually.

It happens. I easily have 2 very close male buddies myself who're extremly shielding and love me to bits as an exceedingly close pal. He and that i've got needed eachother in any incorrect way. buddies of oppostie intercourse do exist. I easily have had my male pal tell adult males off that have disrespected me that's all it quite is. yeah he might be doing it intentionally too, have you considered that? talk to him and tell him to back off, you saw her first. if hes gonna keep cock-blocking you then i'd say he's a jerk and get rid of him. also, it would help if you just told her how you felt about her ASAP before things get serious with them. sorry you have to deal with this.
