Why it's 16-th birthday such a big deal in America?

In my country important birthdays are 15-th or 20-th birthday, so I'm interested to know.

It's basically the same thing as a Quinceanera. It's the birthday that is supposed to be the "Coming of Age". We celebrate the 16th, the 18th, and the 21st in America. The 18th is when we are legally adults and the 21st is when we are legally allowed to drink. Hope this helped

I don't know why people feel the need to have a Sweet 16. The only thing I see special about the age 16 is that you are now legal to drive.... And drop out of school.

It is the age who considers a person mature enough to having sex... One of other thing After 16 you will be able to Drive some Car in America.. Before 16 that is illegal..

I think mostly because that is the age most U.S. states allow teens to obtain a driver's license.
