did i do the right thing?

Question

I'm 15 and i met this odd girl at school. no body talks to her she always sits alone and walks funny. smells like old hay to, she started talking to me and siting next to me but i always moved away or ingored her. so she kep doing it. and yet i still kep moving away and ingoreing her b.c people would make fun of us. she stoped coming to school for a little while i kinda got worried she wasnt there for 3 weeks
then out of the blue she came back she stoped siting by me and talking to me. she just sat by her self looking at the wall. so i went over there and talked to her. should of seen the smile on her face when i did that. but then she told me that her dad would hit and her mom and that she was scared to go home. she said she didnt tell the cops b.c she new her dad would get out and kill them. i didnt know what to do about that.
i didnt know for sure that what she said was ture til i saw somthing i would never forget i was walking to shcool and i saw her dad slap her so hard that blood came out of her mouth so i grab a peace of wood and he was gonna slap her again and i hit him as hard as i could with the wood over the head he layed on the ground for a while other people saw what happend sooner or later the cops came over took him some where probably jail im not sure. but i feel like i needed to do somthing but then again should just let it go?

that was for sure the thing to do. a girl in that postion really needs a friend. even if people do make fun of you. you really do know her life outside of school i bet it is hard to live with parents like that. if you really wanna do something let her spend the night she really does need a friend at this time. let her take a shower cause if she smalls like old hay then she might be afraid to take a shower. i had a friend that would not take a shower cause of her mother would come yank her out of the shower and hit her sayin she used all the hot water so i welcomed her to using my shower. the most impportant friend to her is you at this point and time. if you take the time to let her personality come out she might be a great person. and on your part you need to keep the situation between you and her. hope this helps!
