Should I still go with him to prom or not?

My so-called best friend and I planned to go to prom together but recently he decided to not go with me 3 weeks before prom because he says he does not think we are organzied enough. He told me that he isn't going to prom but then I hear he is but with another group with a girl who hates me. He tells me he wants to go with me but he wants to be in that group with the girl who hates me. But if I leave my other group then it would seem unfair and rude. Part of the reason I want to go to prom is to hang out with my friends. The people in his group I don;t really get along with and I would probably more likely have a bored time. Should I go with him or should I stay with my other group? What do I tell him when asks me again?

Your friend really needs to work on his friendship skills. Go with your friends and have a great time, who knows if you'll get another chance. If he's a true friend he'll be cool with what you decide and it won't be an issue again. I have to ask however, you say he's hanging out in a group that has a girl in it that you don't like right. Are you sure he's hanging out with them because he likes the group or is it the girl? How are you going to handle it if it's the girl?

Go with the group of people who you are going to have fun with. You don't want to remember your prom night as a time where you felt totally uncomfortable because you were around someone who hates you. If he wants to hang out with that group, then go ahead and let him. DO NOT let him ruin YOUR fun .



If he asks you again, firmly tell him no. Do not let him get you involved in a situation that could turn out ugly at the end of the night.

He's not a very good friend to go back on his word to you. Go with your group, and have a good time! That's what prom's all about.
