Gonna Be A New Kid .. =/?

Question

Well im moving from Florida to North Carolina, whole new atmosphere .. =/
Going from popular to a nobody, ive been in florida all my life and knoww everyoneeeeee, and i have a pretty good reputation .
Now im in North Carolina, and school is about to start and it just hit me, im not gonna have any friends..
I know one kid, that i met at the courts playing ball, hes pretty cool but he smokes, and im not really down with that.
But thats really about it, everyone i chill with at parties is all in college already, soo i have no friends .
and i really, really don't wanna be at school all lonely, and im hoping i meet someone before lunch soo im not sitting at lunch by myself at lunch like a lame -_- ..
I don't really know what im trying to ask, just a little nervous, i guess what im trying to ask is how to make new friends, starting at a new school ? Im use to knowing everyone since elementry and me usually greeting new people into my group .

just because he smokes doesn't mean he is bad. you have to broaden your range of friends and just be nice to everyone. it's normal to be nervous, and trust me, i know how it is to move to a whole new place where you don't know anyone. but i'll tell you this, at first things may feel like ****, but it gets so much better with time. so much so you that you may stop missing your old home. all you need is to give this new place a chance, be the nice and awesome person you are and you'll be fine! good luck =)

Just be yourself. You've probably heard that a lot but listen, it's much better do be in a group of losers that you have things in common with then with the populars where one word can get you kicked out.

Talk to people in your classes. Be your self for sure. If your goofy be goofy. If you play sports like basketball football baseball ect. you can always talk to your team mates. Don't go to the guidance counselor, they always make you end up with these nerdy emotional freaks that try to be your friend.
